Two cannabis products

With the rising popularity of vaping cannabis, there is often confusion about the juice or oils that are used in THC vape pens. This guide will take the mystery out of these elevated elixirs, and equip you with everything there is to know about vape juice in THC vape pens and cartridges.

What is Vape Juice?

E-liquid, otherwise known as vape juice or vape oil is not simply a concentrate of THC, but a blend of several different elements. This mixture typically includes water, food-grade flavoring, vegetable glycerin, and propylene glycol. Sometimes, however, it can also include things like alcohol or nicotine, but THC juices are usually free of nicotine.

Vape juice actually started out in e-cigarettes as an alternative to regular tobacco. But as they grew into the mainstream along with recreational cannabis use, vape juice expanded from the black stuff to the green stuff where it just blew up a second time! As such, vape juice was initially recognized in two ways:

  • Containing nicotine
  • Replacement for smoking cigarettes

So, when you’re saying ‘vape juice’, there is a difference between regular vape juice and THC vape juice depending on the context and the product. However, they are very similar in that they are both alternatives to smoking, just with different substances: E-cigs or just vape juice is an alternative to nicotine, whereas THC vape juice is specifically for when you want to elevate with psychoactive effects.

Again THC vape juice is not entirely a THC concentrate, but concentrate is the active ingredient that makes the oil a cannabis product and not a nicotine product. THC concentrate can be in the form of CO2, Liquid THC, or Tincture. You can also use diluted cannabis if you’re making your juice at home.

Effects of the THC Vape Juice

Since THC vape juice is a cannabis liquid with concentrated THC, its effects are akin to consuming a high THC strain or even an infused joint. Some of the experiences that you can expect include the following:

  • Euphoria
  • Hunger
  • Time Distortion
  • Active Mind
  • Drowsiness

However, the intensity of these effects really depends on your tolerance. Your metabolism and body composition can impact how intense the effects of the THC Vape Juice are. This means the amount of vape Juice you can consume through the Vape pen depends on you. And it is very different across every individual.

Is The THC Vape Juice Legal?

It may seem funny, but it’s just true: The answer is yes and no. It really depends on where you reside and what kind of cannabis laws they have.

The US is a perfect example of the ‘yes and no’ answer: Cannabis products, in general, are not federally legal but every state can decide whether they can be used recreationally, medicinally, or both: Colorado allows this along with Nevada, California and 16 other states as of Fall 2022, while it’s either illegal or for medicinal use only in the remaining States.

However, other countries follow suit and only allow THC vape juice for medicinal purposes. In this case, you’re required by law to get a doctor’s prescription to purchase THC vape juice. You might be able to use the simple vape juice like e-cigarettes, but that obviously won’t get you high like you were hoping.

Can You DIY THC Vape Juice?

You absolutely can! There are several different ways to make THC vape juice all by yourself. The simplest way, however, is to make a tincture

But keep in mind, DIY solutions are not always as safe as getting a THC vape from a legal distributor or a local dispensary, so that’s always the easiest and safest way to get your THC vape juice.
